Home businesses - low overheads, no premises, no employees. But, although the break-even point for a home business may be lower, it's every bit as important to focus on actively selling your products and services. Many people start a home business because they have a particular talent or interest. You may have a great product, nicely presented - and I'm sure you're a lovely person - but what about selling?

Many people think that great products sell themselves, others subscribe to the "if you build it they will come" school of passive marketing - but most self publishers quickly realise that nothing moves off the shelf (virtual or otherwise) if you don't actually sell it.

The internet has introduced many new home business opportunities, and you can to create an image and presence to equal a multi-national. But - the challenge of actually "selling" remains. You can't stand back and wait for customers to appear.
