What Next?

If you have worked through the processes in this guide then - phew! - you have achieved a lot!

You really do deserve a pat on the back because in spite of all the millions of people on the internet and all the big talk and mighty claims, you are now part of a tiny percentage of people who have actually done something.

Most people don't get started, let alone finished - so be proud, congratulate yourself ...

... and then (sorry) get back to work - because this is really only the beginning.

You've probably realized that we have only scratched the surface in this guide - every door we have opened has led to a room with 10 more doors inside. We haven't begun to explore them all yet.

So - if you want - there is much you can still do.

I'm not going to go into the same detail from here on in - perhaps I'll produce different guides if there is a demand. But allow me to propose the following steps for where you go from here:

  • Refine
  • Develop
  • Duplicate
  • Create

Refine: Your Site

Go back and take a fresh look at your site. Try to look at it as an outsider, a first time visitor, a complete newcomer to the internet, to computers.

  • Is it easy to use?
  • Does it do what it says?
  • Is it clear?

If not - diagnose the problem and fix it.

Analyse your tracker and traffic reports from places like HitBox .

If you haven't already bought it - Make Your Site Sell! is the single best investment you can make at this stage as it will help you fine tune and improve every aspect of your site.

Develop: Your Skills

Once you have a firm foundation to build on - you can start to think about how you improve:

  • More traffic
  • Higher conversion ratio
  • Higher value sales
  • Better return on investment

Make Your Site Sell! and it's companion volume Make Your Words Sell! are invaluable at this stage. Even very experienced internet marketers have been astounded at what they have learned from these books.

Nothing but 'Net is a brilliant book by Michael Campbell that shows - practically - how he built a business from nothing to $750,000 annual turnover - only using on-line sales and promotion techniques - but shipping what he calls "dirt world" (that is - "real") products.

Duplicate: Your Success

Remember how you started this process with a list of possible site subjects?

Now that you have made this work for your first choice - could you make it work again?

Go back to your list - what was next? Is it an option for a new site, knowing what you now know?

Or what about your first site - could it be divided into 2 or more sites with even more precise focus? 2 specialist sites with the right degree of cross-promotion could be better than one combined.

... or you could take the most significant step of all in creating your Practical DotCom Business ...
