1) Adding Net Auctions to your eBusiness Portfolio
=============================
No, net auctions are NOT only a way to clear out your attic
and/or basement - they can be a superbly cost-effective
add-on to an existing business, or even the best single
route to market for some.
I have bought lots of "stuff" at various auction sites over
the years, but it took "Make Your Net Auction Sell" ...
http://www.practicalselling.com/pdcb/0000/to.cgi?mynas
... to show me the best way to sell a whole range of things
via net auctions. Since then I have:
:) Turned surplus inventory into cash without devaluing
prices on my site.
:) Sold extra copies of e-books and other digital products
that I already sell from web sites.
:) Sold bundles of cosmetically damaged books that I
couldn't sell otherwise.
... and Net Auctions now form part of my sales, marketing
and promotions strategy for anything I am selling.
I think it's an idea that is very relevant to anyone with
a "PDCB" type site/business, as it allows you to very
carefully target your audience no matter how specialised
your subject/product, and the costs and risks involved are
very, very low. It's so easy to set up and risk free to try
that it can be an excellent way to test market something
before you set up a permanent web site for it.
"Make Your Net Auction Sell" is a comprehensive guide to
Net Auctions for "our" kind of business. It's very low
priced publication, but if you're not ready to part with
your money yet, you can sign up for a free 5-part training
course that will give you an interesting insight into how
you might be able to use Net Auctions to create or
extend your business.

If you don't realise just how big the Net Auction world is
today, just take a look at the leading site and I think you
will be astounded by the scale and excitement of it all:

2) New Generation Free Traffic Builder

If you have a web site that you just *know* will be
successful if you could *only* get people to see it, try
this:
http://www.practicalselling.com/pdcb/0000/to.cgi?blaze
It's a development of banner and link exchange concepts -
in this case, you "swap" home pages at random with other
webmasters who are using the system.
Because there is no targetting involved, it won't do much
for specialist sites, but it *will* increase the range and
exposure of more general sites beyond those people that can
be reached through either "free" or "pay per click" search
engines, or other forms of advertising.
It won't be effective forever - all techniques have their
day and then begin to dwindle - but it is effective right
now and I can confirm that it does work.
It's completely free, and you really can get a lot more out
of it than you put in ... and how often can you say that?
All you have to give up is your "home" page (the page that
comes up automatically when you start your browser). I was
a little concerned about this at first, but I moved my
"home" page to the top of my favorites list instead - and
I've actually enjoyed being presented with new sites I'd
probably never have found otherwise.
One last tip before you try it - give some careful
consideration to which page you want to display as other
peoples' home page. The first page of your own site might
not be the best choice - what about a product selling page,
an offers page, an affiliate site page, or something you
create especially to grab the attention of the viewer
under these specific circumstances?
I'm trying different things, but currently it's the Site
Build It! sweepstakes page, as this is a powerful viral
marketing tool for me and it "gives" something to the
viewer straight away:
